Alice in Wonderland + Computer Upgrade + Design Books! Catt's Life Update.
Hello, fine people! How have you all been?
I’ve been gone for a month or so, but I haven’t been slacking on anything besides homework. I’ve been working, living, and I even managed to upgrade my MacBook. I was thinking about buying a new one, but I honestly don’t like the color or the battery of the unibody aluminum MacBooks. So, I decided to buy a 650GB hard drive and 2GB of ram and upgrade the system myself.
It was actually pretty easy. I did run into a problem replacing the hard drive, though.
This is a Torx screw. You encounter these when you try to replace a hard drive. I had never seen one before this, and didn’t have a screwdriver for it either. I suggest not attempting to use a Philips head on this, as it will strip the screw.
You can buy Torx screwdrivers at good hardware stores, The Home Depot, National Wholesale Liquidators, etc. It was a bit of a hassle to find a set near my home, but a quick trip to the NWL solved that (along with needs for food and bedding accessories).
My laptop is now wonderfully fast and has more HD space than most of today’s laptops. :D!
Last Friday, I managed to see Alice in Wonderland with some friends. I didn’t get to take pictures, but we wore strange outfits. It was great.
It was visually stunning. As for the plot, it was funny. The end was a bit weird. I don’t know if I ever want to see Johnny Depp dance again. Actually, I seriously don’t.
I also will be buying some design books as soon as I get a refund from NewEgg for incorrect RAM. Don’t even ask about that. Here are some books I reccommend.
ABC3D is an amazing book. Just try and guess what it’s about.
YES. And it’s pretty cheap on Half.com. The only problem is that Half.com doesn’t like PayPal. I don’t understand it. So, I have to wait for my refund to transfer before I can buy it.
Next…
Normally, I wouldn’t invest in a book about Bob Dylan. However, this book is filled with crazy inserts and pull-outs and stuff. It’s totally inspiring. And yes, I ordered it in English.
Touch Graphics is also a good book that’s cheap on Half.com and A1Books.
Hopefully I can buy them soon. Junior portfolios are due at the end of April. I have to make my decision on a design soon! I prefer a cheap style, but cheap does not equal good.
I start my new job on Monday. I’ll be at NASDAQ working my butt off. I hope to learn a lot and meet great people. Gotta go find my black clothes.
Hope everyone is doing well. I’m gonna go have a smoothie and listen to the wind throwing garbage cans around outside my house.
